Changes we have observed

We have not seen Gemini change status since we started watching.

How Gemini can fail

Google does not publish a status feed for the Gemini app itself. What it does publish is the Google Cloud incident list, which covers Gemini and Vertex AI among many other products. We read that list and keep only open incidents that mention Gemini or Vertex AI, then combine them with our own check of gemini.google.com.

That means a quiet Google Cloud list does not prove the Gemini app is working, and an open Google Cloud incident may affect developers more than app users. A Google Cloud incident can be limited to certain regions, so we report one as "having issues" and never as "down".

API errors and what they mean

If you use the Gemini API, Google's troubleshooting guide separates errors worth retrying from errors that are about your request.

If Gemini is not working for you

Check the two signals above first. When both look healthy, try a different device or network, sign out and back in, and switch off any VPN or browser extensions. Hitting a usage limit can look like an outage, so check for a message about limits. Our guide has the full checklist, and another explains why a service can be up but broken for you.

Questions about Gemini status

Is Gemini down right now?

Gemini looks up. We are not seeing any problems right now.

How can I tell if Gemini is down for everyone or only for me?

Compare what you see with the two signals above. If Google's status page and our checks both look healthy, the problem is likely your account, network, browser or a usage limit. Try another device or connection, sign out and back in, and turn off any VPN or browser extensions.

Where is the official Gemini status page?

Google publishes status information at https://status.cloud.google.com.

How often is this page updated?

Our checks run every five minutes, so this page can lag a sudden outage by up to five minutes.

Does Google have a status page for the Gemini app?

Not one that we can read. Google publishes Google Cloud incidents that mention Gemini and Vertex AI, and we combine those with our own check of the Gemini website.

Why does Gemini never show as down for a Google Cloud incident?

Google Cloud incidents can affect only some regions or customers, so we always report one as "having issues" and never as "down".
